[edit]this list of famous people with handlebar moustaches is so stupid--XmarkX 16:21, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Yeah, this article is pretty week. 'Literally years?'Petelav (talk) 12:12, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Is there a citation for the claim that Canada banned handlebar moustaches?
Stub?
[edit]Honestly, the amount of information here is more appropriate for a stub.
The Lorax
[edit]The Lorax appears both here at Handlebar moustache and the one at Walrus moustache. Surely it cannot be both! Can someone please remove him from one of these lists? Thanks! Ewlyahoocom 05:48, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- well sure it can! A walrus is just a big bushy handlebar. Handlebars can be either sleek or bushy, whereas the walrus must be the former. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.122.63.142 (talk) 21:36, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
content that should be sourced and included
[edit]I dont have time to find sources right now, but this was listed in an old version of the article and if we can source it, it would be great to include.
- "During the First World War many things were in short supply, including wax. in 1915 to try and help preserve the limited supply of wax, Canada outlawed handlebar moustaches which required wax to be maintained."
- Looked, couldn't find anything to back that up. Don't have time to find sources? You have time to delete sources, but no time to find them? Maybe it's not just "time" that you don't have....--Yankees76 (talk) 22:57, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Excessive images
[edit]The gallery is in violation of WP:IMAGE "Articles that use more than one image should present a variety of material near relevant text. Three uniformed portraits would be redundant for a biography of a famous general. A map of a battle and a picture of its aftermath would provide more information to readers." Active Banana (talk) 03:49, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- Nice, but you quoted the wrong policy. WP:IG is more applicable here. I'll re-add the gallery once more content has been created. By the way, feel free to add some content to the article, I think you'll find there's more to your Wikipedia experience than making a career here out of hopping from one article to the next tagging or deleting any content that even looks like it might violate a policy (correct policy or not). --Yankees76 (talk) 16:10, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
- You can build your "Wiki career" as you want. I will build mine as I want. My time to contribute to Wikipedia comes in short bits and spurts that may be interrupted at any moment - completely ineffective application for doing actual "research"; however it is completely compatible with assessing and removing inappropriate content thus resulting in a higher proportion of quality material which results in Wikipedia being a better encyclopedia. If you wish to put me on your payroll and providing uninterrupted periods that can be dedicated to finding as well as access to sources, then we can talk. Kaiser Wilhelm II
[edit]I believe his mustache is just a more bizarre version of a handlebar mustache, and should be included in the sentence listing famous wearers. Anyone object? 68.226.208.159 (talk) 21:10, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Removing Company Mascots
[edit]I'm removing the Company Mascots section. I think that it violates WP:NFG and WP:LOGO. WP:NFG states that "[t]he use of non-free images arranged in a gallery or tabular format is usually unacceptable, but should be considered on a case-by-case basis." While I agree that the use of these 3 non-free images does provide a nice illustration of familiar handlebar mustaches, I don't know that we couldn't find another way to illustrate this. Given that WP:LOGO also says, "A logo may appear in the infobox of the main article on the subject the logo represents. ... Outside of these limits, neither non-free nor trademarked logos (see discussion) should be used within an article," I don't know that this gallery should be in this article. The gallery is also not listed in the non-free use rationale for any of the three images. For these reasons I have removed it from this article. If I'm misunderstanding policy or guidelines though, I would definitely want to see it added back and someone explain to me where I misinterpreted the non-free content and logo policies though. - I put the gallery there and I want to see it back as well...I was not subjected to the bots removal, so I don't understand why they were removed. If you can not explain this in another way or if you can find a way to put it back, do so because it was not flagged from the bots. And it was a good representation.
