Talk:Report program generator
I didn't think anyone remembered the "old" RPG, ie RPG, RPG II and III. I started out "wiring" EAM equipment for the US Army (ASA). I was running IBM 407 (calculator/printer) and other ancient equipment while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany in 1961-64. It was a lot of fun. We had the prototype of the hard disk drive, classified as "Top Secret" equipment. You could watch the arm retract and move to the next disk. I taught myself RPG in 1969 and became a programmer/manager in the heyday of dataprocessing, when we (programmers) were "kings". I'm happily retired but I often think of my coding days. I could still write a "quickie" RPG, just give me specs. Steve Galkin, Greenwich CT.
