Etxeberria
[edit]If someone is interested, the Basque surname Etxeberria means "the new house".
Was Echeverria Spanish or Mexican?
[edit]On the basis of http://huntbot.andrew.cmu.edu/HIBD/Home/SiteImages/SiteImages-035.html and some other print information (inc. Bailey's manual of cultivated plants), I'm describing him as Mexican, and as an artist, rather than a botanist. And also altering his name slightly. Imc 08:48, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
File:Echeveria Blue Curl.jpg to appear as POTD soon
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Echeveria Blue Curl.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on September 16, 2010. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2010-09-16. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 22:05, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]I've removed the referenced pronunciation of this plant as 'Ekeveria'. /ˌɛkɪˈvɪəriə/, citing "Sunset Western Garden Book |year=1995 |location=Menlo Park, CA |publisher=Sunset Pub |pages=606–607 |isbn=0-376-03851-9 }}"
I have heard this pronunciation, but more commonly hear the other obvious way of saying it. Since this plant name is a common Spanish name, it should be said in pretty much the same way it would be read in English. And it would be good to raise the question as to whether the 'Sunset Western Garden Book' is a reliable reference. Imc (talk) 21:45, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
