One Actor, Two Doctors
[edit]"Sylvester McCoy was made to wear his predecessor's costume and a blond curly wig and film the sequence himself, making him the only actor to appear onscreen as two different Doctors." -- Actually, Jon Pertwee's stunt double stayed on and became Tom Baker's stunt double, so he's played the role of both the third and fourth Doctors. - Technically speaking, he was playing Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, not the Third or Fourth Doctors. :) --khaosworks 04:36, May 5, 2005 (UTC)
- More technically speaking a stunt double or stuntman is not an actorsheridan 17:00, 2005 May 13 (UTC)
- Quite a number of the more regular stuntmen appear to have been actors, often playing some of the smaller roles so they can do the stunts themseles. Timrollpickering 10:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Written for Colin Baker?
[edit]Although this was the first story to feature the Seventh Doctor, it was written in anticipation of Colin Baker returning as the Sixth Doctor.
I was under the impression that Baker was sacked no later than November/December 1986 and declined the offer of one final story almost immediately, whereas Time and the Rani was a very late in the day commission in early 1987. Although a lot of the deal it feels like it was written for Colin Baker's Doctor, isn't that more because McCoy hadn't been cast at the point of commission and was still developing how he'd play it? - Yes, to my understanding the story was commissioned for an unknown - but new - Doctor, and the writers were flying blind in terms of how the actor would approach the role, hence the ongoing amnesia and general comic runaround nature. Colin Baker had lost the role before JN-T committed to producing the next series, and when he did he had to find a new script editor. There were apprarently no scripts "on the shelf" at that time. --The Missing Hour 15:37, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Time And The Rani Part 1 Title Sequence
[edit]It is my understanding that at the very beggining of part 1' Colin Baker was the doctor, so would the doctor's face on the beggining title sequence to part one be Colin Baker's face, Syvester McCoy's face or would it have been blank. J2F Duck (talk) 17:55, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- The regeneration was included in a pre titles sequence (although I've read that some overseas transmissions moved it to after the titles). Colin Baker was unavailable, so McCoy stood in (or lay in) in a blond wig for a few brief shots before the regeneration. The title sequence showed McCoy's face as per the norm for the rest of his era (bar TatR ep 4 which had an early version used by mistake). Timrollpickering (talk) 18:17, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Change in incidental music?
[edit]I noticed that this episode seems to make a lot more use of music than previous episodes. If someone has some concrete information on the change, it would make an interesting addition to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pcrow (talk • contribs) 02:14, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- Which episode? There were four of them. Timrollpickering (talk) 04:43, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
