Statutory rape

[edit]

This is American terminology, a crime under this name doesn't exist in Canada. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.246.130.248 (talk) 03:09, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alanis/Nadine

[edit]

Is Alanis her real name? I heard that Nadine is her real name. VenomousConcept (talk) 16:45, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nadine is her middle name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tustultuses (talkcontribs) 21:21, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a vegan for better or worse??

[edit]

Since when do vegans have a particular look?! And who's opinion is the "for better or worse"?? Sounds like the writer had a thing against vegans... Can we either remove this sentence, or just make it a plain comment that she is a vegan? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Geqo (talkcontribs) 06:08, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

well, she certainly looks ugly. That's why she didn't start to be an actress but only a singer, where looks are not that important. 93.219.174.199 (talk) 17:06, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? Alanis ugly? Well, you probably think Miley Cyrus is very pretty. 85.217.34.67 (talk) 12:17, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously a lot of opinions going on here. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia; We do facts, not opinions. 'For better or worse' Is blatant weasel wording. 67.86.187.137 (talk) 18:44, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Religion: Buddhist?

[edit]

I've noticed that several times people list Alanis' religion as "buddhist" or various others. I was wondering if there's any evidence of her claiming this because I don't know if she's ever claimed to belong to a specific faith (after catholicism). She says she is spiritual but doesn't mention religion...so is she really a buddhist? Does anyone know her current religious affiliation? It would be better to not list her as a follower of a specific religion until there's concrete proof. Thank you! --Turn685 (talk) 16:52, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ABC GENERAL HOSPITAL ARTISTS AND SONGS

[edit]

I would Luv to search more information on this series as well as other TV series. Names of song writers, musicians, collaborations, and external links to download songs... Fashionista.xoxo (talk) 14:15, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was surprised to see there was not a List of songs recorded by Alanis Morissette. I redirected the page to here for now, but feel free to get a list going before me if you have time and interest. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:51, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Started on it but it's a lot of work compiling it all... Turn➦ 13:41, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

[edit]

In View Askewniverse it says she reprised her role as God for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, however, it doesn't show this in her filmography. I haven't seen the film in a while, so I can't exactly confirm this, but if it is the case the filmography should be updated. 67.86.187.137 (talk) 18:47, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

She's in a post-credit scene closing the ViewAskweniverse book. It's a very short sequence which may be why it's been left out? Regardless, I think it should be in there, so I'll add it. 86.187.132.182 (talk) 10:20, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Marital Stats

[edit]

Sorry, too lazy to sign in. She never married Ryan Reynolds as it states in the box. Under personal it says she married someone in 2010 and is not recorded in the box. Just an FYI 2601:200:8100:DC14:8D05:A8B2:BC52:B833 (talk) 04:06, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Problem playing songs?

[edit]

Does anyone else have a problem playing "Ironic"? The other two ("Thank U" and "That I Would Be Good") present no problems. I was wondering if there is some technical problem someone could fix. __209.179.0.121 (talk) 15:40, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On Other Appearances

[edit]

She sang another song with Tricky, in 2001 - but it didn't make it to the album Blowback. The song is called "Question". It is unreleased. Also she didn't sing with Dave Matthews Band on the song Halloween (album: Before These Crowded Streets from 1998). tustultuses 21:24, 4 April 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tustultuses (talkcontribs)

Date format?

[edit]

Shouldn't the date format on this page and those related to Alanis be DMY, since she is a born Canadian? Ottawa uses the DMY format, so is there a specific reason for using MDY, aside from she has gained American citizenship? Is that like saying we should not use Canadian English, as well? livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:10, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article went by MDY when created in 2002[1] and so per WP:DATERETAIN should continue to be in MDY, Also Canada use DMY, MDY and YYYY-MM-DD so it's hard to justify using DMY here as much as I want too!. –Davey2010Talk 14:18, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
However, per MOS:DATERETAIN, it does state: unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic or consensus on the article's talk page, so while I do understand the intent of maintaining the MDY format, surely, her natural-born national ties should be used, no? To me, in using MDY formats and Canadian English is a bit contradicting... livelikemusic (TALK!) 14:22, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Canada English template is the real problem here then, Given she it states "Canadian-American" imho the language should be American but that's just my opinion, Either way whilst the dates and language are contradictory the dates aren't the main problem here atleast I don't think they are anyway, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:08, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Entrepreneur

[edit]

Hi, while @Cruzado insists the content they've recently added (regarding Morissette's so-called entrepreneurship) is lead-worthy (despite opposition from me and @Fulfiller, see this), including "entrepreneur" in the lead sentence definitely violates MOS:ROLEBIO (because Morissette isn't commonly called such by reliable sources). Thedarkknightli (talk) 03:42, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Precisely. Alanis Morissette has been famous for nearly 30 years. We should evaluate articles in highly reliable sources that take a look back at her whole career. Preferably articles published in the last five to ten years. Only if such articles routinely and prominently call her an entrepeneur should that word appear in lead sentence. The onus is on any editor who wants to add this content to make that case based on the full range of sources. Cullen328 (talk) 05:32, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cullen328 (talk) 03:53, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Cullen328, thanks for your timely reply! Cruzado is currently being discussed at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Edit warring on Alanis Morissette.
Regards, Thedarkknightli (talk) 05:51, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't even see any entrepreneurship mentioned in the article at all, whether sourced or unsourced. LizardJr8 (talk) 14:48, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
