Hello Mjrogers50 and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
Hi Michael, not sure if you're still around, but great work on those images for Rookwood Cemetery! I may yet expand this bit as I have material on the cemetery. Incidently, want to join us at WP:AWNB? - Ta bu shi da yu 15:37, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Pic of the Day
[edit]Hi Mike,
I guess you are not editing here that often any more, but I thought you might like to know that your photo Image:TakakkawFalls2.jpg is due to be Pic of the Day on Sunday 23 October. You can correct and improve the caption at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/October 23, 2005. -- Solipsist 13:07, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Rogers Results
[edit]Yeah sure, add it back in. I just presumed it was some obscure site but having looked at it you could make case for including it in the external links section. Cheers. Jevansen (talk) 07:29, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- I still think it doesn't really belong, as I think that any site needs time to prove it's kept up to date and is useful, especially those on free servers. Footystats has this track record and reputation. Allthestats, AFLTables & Footywire are a bit repetitive, but are useful resources. BTW, I just tried to find your site using google - and couldn't. Not a good sign. The-Pope (talk) 04:36, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't own the page, I just edit it to stay within the guidelines and despite the endorsement from KT I still think it's not yet important enough to be listed. Subject to you reading and understanding the WP:COI policy, feel free to use it as a reference for any of the unusual stats that make interesting reading, but can be hard to reference. Make sure you understand WP:RS as well - the truth isn't always the key thing here - Verifiability is the prime objective. Good luck with the site, but this isn't the right place to advertise it. NowCommons: File:Fernie courthouse.jpg
[edit]File:Fernie courthouse.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Fernie courthouse.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Fernie courthouse.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 15:18, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
"Minor" Premiers and the "Right to Challenge"
[edit]Thanks for the information. I will have a deep look at all the material and see what I can do with the article. BTW, I have always had a strong suspicion that the notion of a "minor premier" has always been far more of a Sydney-centred rugby league notion, than a Melbourne-centred Aussie Rules notion. However, something like this is of considerable historical importance, given that a large amount (maybe 60%) of the impetus to transfer from the VFA to the new VFL — for the clubs that did transfer, that is — was to have a premiership team. It was only in the second year of the competition that they were able to actually realize the concept of a "Grand Finale". I will read all the stuff carefully; because, at the moment, I am too busy to determine exactly how the original article must be changed. However, I will do so over the weekend. Thanks again.Lindsay658 (talk) 23:10, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
- Too busy with my studies at the moment. It seems that you have uncovered something rather important. Will look at it in some detail as soon as I can. Best too you. (BTW, in Melbourne in the 1940s and 1950s, when I was at school, it was always called "Aussie Rules").Lindsay658 (talk) 23:04, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture
[edit]Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TakakkawFalls2_edit.jpg). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:
http://www.freeenglishsite.com/
I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm
2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm
3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm
Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.
Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely, Duane Hurst in Utah, USA
