Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:51, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vu Digital (2nd nomination), you supported deletion and the AfD was closed as "delete". At Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2015 November 30#Vu Digital, I asked for the community's permission to restore the history under the redirect so I can merge material to C Spire Wireless, the parent company.

I will only merge material sourced to TechCrunch, Mississippi Business Journal, Broadcasting & Cable, and The Clarion-Ledger, which all pass Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. I will not merge any material sourced only to press releases or sources that fail Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Would you support this? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 19:18, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on UNICOM Global, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Éditions des archives contemporaines

[edit]

Hello SJK,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Éditions des archives contemporaines for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Shootingstar111 (talk) 00:23, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

StorPool AfD

[edit]

Look I'm trying to re-write the article that handles "written as advertisement" tags and was nominated for deletion. If you want to help please either re-write it yourself to remove COI and biased opinions and help with independent links people can actually read. I don't get your point in reverting my changes just because you like old version better. It clearly has issues and that's put into header tags. Thanks! :) APS (Full Auto) (talk) 12:45, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Storage Hypervisor AfD (Keep? Re-write? ... )

[edit]

If it's going to be kept it should be made vendor neutral. At least links to company sites removed because now it's a link farm: vendor pages, dead links (Virsto), and PR articles (ESG and TechTarget). If article will be kept I can try to re-write it / modify. Let me know what you think. Thanks! APS (Full Auto) (talk) 19:39, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

External Memory

[edit]

Hey SJK!

I'm a current undergraduate student at Duke University and I'm taking a class on memory. External Memory is one of the topics we have covered in class. It is a topic discussed by many psychology researchers and a topic of conversation among social scientists as well. I think this topic is equally important to that of 'external memory' from a technological perspective. I do not believe an immediate redirect to auxiliary memory is the answer. Googling 'external memory', the first thing that pops up is still auxiliary memory making it easy for those who are looking for the USB/CD/hard drive definition to find it.

I ask that you give me some time to work on this page from a psychological perspective. I also propose a section with a link to auxiliary memory instead of an immediate redirect.

Thank you for your input and time,

(Stephanie Parrado (talk) 21:30, 17 April 2016 (UTC))[reply]

@Stephanie Parrado: Since the phrase "external memory" is used in two different senses (one psychology, the other computing), let me suggest another course of action: (1) You create a new article external memory (psychology) and put your content there; (2) the existing external memory page becomes a disambiguation page linking to both external memory (psychology) and the redirect target of auxiliary memory. Doing this would also make it clearer that you are actually creating a brand new article, whereas modifying a long-standing redirect page doesn't make this clear. SJK (talk) 10:52, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Stephanie Parrado: I turned external memory into a disambiguation page. I suggest you create your intended new article as external memory (psychology). SJK (talk) 10:47, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ken Dakin

[edit]

Someone keeps adding this stuff. I don't know if Oliver and Simon are notable either, I think they're a UK thing, so I've let them stand. Even if notable it might be undue emphasis. Peter Flass (talk) 22:34, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Peter Flass: I wonder if the "someone" is either Ken Dakin himself, or someone associated with him (a friend or family member). Can't be proven, but it's very plausible. I had a look at IBM OLIVER (CICS interactive test/debug) and SIMON (Batch Interactive test/debug) – lack refs, couldn't find any substantial coverage in reliable sources, so I've PRODed them. SJK (talk) 22:50, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am the Ken Dakin referred to. I don't seem to be able to find my user talk page and cannot remember the password I once had for Wikipedia. Please could SJK or someone else at Wikipedia contact me via my registered email address (or via Wikipedia's Mark Hetherington who is a Quora member and has replied to one of my questions/answers - * see below for Quora Q& A link). I wish to retrieve deleted Wikipedia articles I created some time ago for publication elsewhere

The articles are:-

1. Works Records System [1] 2. IBM OLIVER (CICS interactive test/debug) [2] 3. SIMON (Batch Interactive test/debug) [3]

(there may be others but I can't remember any more at the moment)

All I want is the Wikipedia marked-up texts for these so that I can perhaps publish them in another WIKI (or another medium entirely) Since these articles were deleted, I have found some source material in the form of actual printed marketing materials and a Computer Weekly advert etc supporting these products/ software programs.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Peter Coffey, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page University of Louvain. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Erroneous Twinkle module directly installed

[edit]

FWIW, in your User:SJK/common.js, you've attempted to directly install a single Twinkle module. That doesn't work — if you want to enable Twinkle, head over to the gadgets section of your preferences. That specific module is sysop-only, so it doubly won't work. ~ Amory (utc) 22:19, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
