[edit]What is a 'kollo'? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:12, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- A summer camp (I think it comes from the word [sommar]koloni, "[summer] colony"). "Barnens ö" is actually the name of a permanent summer camp north of Stockholm which has existed for a long time and once played a significant social reformatory role (getting working class children out of the unhealthy city and that kind of thing). As the "original", it would probably deserve an article under this name, but I know too little about it.
- The movie is actually based on a novel Barnens ö by P. C. Jersild (see his article). I wouldn't call it an adventure book/film, but don't really know what genre it could be said to belong to. Perhaps a kind of Bildungsroman, even though it takes place entirely during a single summer, in that it is about the boy's confrontation with the world of the adults and his own growing-up. / Uppland 17:00, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I've included the bare minimum of information in the article; I don't really feel confident to do any more. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:04, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
