Expert retention seems like an increasingly important problem to me.
I have, in the past, enjoyed researching and writing new Wikipedia articles, but as of 2010 I'm taking an extended, possibly permanent, vacation from substantive editing (apart from fixing vandalism). A years-long accumulation of minor irritants has convinced me it will be unrewarding to contribute my time providing further new research and new writing.
I've made major contributions, though many are no longer visible, to articles in the areas of:
- Literary criticism and literary theory
- Continental philosophy, Marxist philosophy
- Transcendentalism, Romanticism, and the 19th century in the United States
- Alternative schooling, higher education, academia, college and university rankings, academic publishing
